Thank you for a Successful Empty Bowls Banquet

We are happy to report that our Empty Bowls Banquet in May was an outstanding success! This was the 28th year of partnership with Middletown High School, their excellent technology teachers, especially Alisa Gibson and Gretchen Martin and their fellow school staff, providing the foundation for this joint venture of school-to-community to raise awareness of how our community can make a difference to those in need.

We had the very good fortune of having young students from the Elementary and the Middle School tell us about their cafeteria program to reduce waste and make a conscious decision to recycle. They also collect unopened food at meal times and donate this to our local food bank. This program is reducing waste at the landfill, increase recycling and providing a model for others, and developing their lifelong habit for environmental concern. Kudos to them!

We also thank Fratelli’s Italian Seafood and South Mountain Creamery for their meal donations and to Fertile Soil, a bluegrass band providing entertainment.

Again thank you for all of your support.
